My name is Mario Chavez Gutierrez, born in Teotitlán del Valle. I am the fourth generation of the chavez family, which for more than a century has created wool rugs, of which it has been a tradicion in the elaboration of these woolen arts and we have a workshop in Teotitaln del Valle,

which is called "Teotl.Tlan. We gave it this name because of the first inhabitants that came to this community looking for a sacred place to establish themselves and they found this town full of sacred things which is the significance of “teotl – tlan” (house of god). It’s for this reason that the workshop was given that name so that everyone would know the significance of being in a magical town. Full of traditions and customs of our ancestors that we still conserve so that we can show those that come to visit. I am also an associate of the ‘Granate Art & Handicrafts’ of Oaxaca. And even today we have enabled ourselves to take courses to better the quality of our products, and to create new designs, and adapting to the contemporary styles without losing our traditional designs, our philosophy is to give to the world our art, which is made by hand, a souvenir of Oaxaca Mexico.
